Aroma.
Petitgrain is a crisp, clear oil with a beautiful, interesting combination of woody and floral aromas.

Effects.
Petitgrain is antiseptic and calms muscles and nerves. It also boosts the mind whilst being calming and comforting. Petitgrain can help clear up troubled skin and blemishes when used in natural skincare.

The plant.
The oil is extracted from the orange tree. The sweet orange essential oil comes from the fruit, neroli essential oil comes from the flowers, and Petitgrain comes from the leaves and small twigs.

The extraction.
Steam distillation extracts Petitgrain oil from the fresh leaves and small twigs. The colour of the oil is pale yellow to amber, and it is watery in viscosity.

Interesting facts.
It is widely used in pharmaceutical products and perfumery and is the classic ingredient of eau-de-cologne.

Chemical constituents.
Geraniol, Linalool, Nerol, Terpineol (Alcohol), Citral (Aldehyde), Geranyl acetate, Linalyl acetate (Ester), Camphene, Limonene (Terpenes).

Blending.
Petitgrain blends well with bergamot, cedarwood, geranium, lavender, melissa, neroli, rosemary, palmarosa, sandalwood, and ylang-ylang.
