Bowen Technique

Please contact us if you are interested in this therapy.

What is the Bowen Technique?
The Bowen Technique is a gentle, relaxing and wonderfully effective ‘hands-on’ therapy that encourages the body to realign and re-balance itself. The technique involves the practitioner using thumbs and fingers to make precise rolling type moves over muscle (directly on skin or through clothing). This initiates the body’s own healing process.

What can Bowen help with?
It is the aim of Bowen to treat the whole person, not just the presenting symptoms. Its holistic approach recognises the link between your physical and emotional health. It is considered safe to use on anyone, from newborns to the elderly and can be used to address many diverse and varied conditions, including:

• Back and neck pain / sciatica
• Frozen shoulder / tennis elbow
• Sports injuries-chronic and acute
• Leg length differences / tilted pelvis
• Hamstring strain
• Pain management
• Acute and chronic fatigue
• Asthma
• Joint pain and muscle spasm
• Bronchial complaints
• IBS
• Strokes
• Whiplash
• P.M.T
• Migraines / headaches
• Fibromyalgia
• Stress related problems
... and many more

What does the treatment involve? An appointment will take between 45 minutes to an hour, with the first session lasting longer, due to a full consultation. This will take into account your general health and previous health issues. It is recommended that a course of 3 treatments, one week apart are initially booked. It is strongly advised that you do not have any other physical therapy such as massage, acupuncture, reflexology, etc. 7 days either side of your treatment, as this may undo the balance achieved through having a Bowen treatment.
